With the opening fixtures of 2021/22 EFL season kicking off around the country this weekend, Scunthorpe United and the EFL are thrilled to be welcoming fans back into stadiums for the start of what is shaping up to be another exciting campaign.
Stadiums have been unable to have spectators in the Iron’s fixtures since March 2020 and the support of fans has been sorely missed. The first weekend of the new season will hear the roar of crowds return to the terraces, reminding us of football’s power to bring people together by reuniting supporters, communities, friends and families with their clubs.
Speaking following the launch at the Sands Venue Stadium, Cox said: "It was brilliant to meet Chris and listen to his story about what he's trying to do for charity (Friends of Pakati).
"We're all looking forward to fans coming back in and hopefully filling the stadiums up, being safe, enjoying their day out and watching some football again. I can't wait for fans to come back in. We've definitely missed them."
Meanwhile, Chris added: "I can't wait, I've got my season ticket picked up today and I'm really looking forward to coming back in.
"What's nice about it is I'll be seeing a lot of people that I've not seen for quite some time. What's going to be exciting this time is there are lots of new players that I've not seen play before."
