The Hertfordshire-based official will travel to St James Park for his eighth game of the season and his second in Sky Bet League Two. The current campaign is Rock's second in the EFL after being promoted ahead of the 2019-20 season.

His first game of the campaign was the Carabao Cup match between Crawley Town and Millwall which ended 3-1 to the Lions. He showed one yellow card in the match. Meanwhile, his latest match  was the League One encounter between Gillingham and Portsmouth on Tuesday which Pompey won 2-0. He showed two yellow cards on the night.

He's yet to be involved as referee in a match involving the Iron, so Saturday will be the first. He has, however, officiated the Grecians once before. That was almost a year ago in December 2019 when he took charge of the 3-3 draw with Walsall. He showed three yellow cards, one of which went to Exeter.

In 2019-20, he took charge of 26 games, issuing 87 yellow cards and four reds, while so far this season, in seven games, he's shown 19 yellow cards and no reds.

On Saturday, he will be assisted by Daniel Flynn and Richard Morris, while Michael Begley has been appointed as the fourth official.
