Vincent on his goals while with the Iron

6 August 2020

New midfield arrival Frank Vincent believes he has a lot to offer the Iron and 'wants to be part of something' during his season-long loan from Bournemouth.

The 21-year-old joined on Thursday and spoke to iFollow Iron before taking part in his first training session at the Sands Venue Stadium.

"I'm buzzing to be here and am looking to hit the ground running. I can't wait to play on the pitch, which is looking great," he explained.

"Ultimately I've come here to win games. I want to be part of something here. That's the main aim. I'm hoping to help the team, hopefully score and set up some goals too.

"I want to prove myself in League Two and show that I can play men's league football. It's only my second loan club but I'm buzzing to get started and hopefully I can impress the fans."

Vincent has previously shone during two stints at Torquay United, firstly helping Gary Johnson's side win the National League South and then the division above last season.

"I played in the Conference last year and it was a real eye-opener," he said. "Every game was different. Sometimes you play pretty football and in others you're chasing the ball. League Two will be a step-up but I'm looking to do that and impress.

"I had a good relationship with the fans there. I'm a hard-worker and I had a really good time there. I'm hoping to do similar things here."

Describing his style, he continued: "I'm a left-footed technical player, who likes a one-two, and this year I want to score some goals. I need to start shooting a bit more.

"Out of possession I'm a hard worker and I think the fans will appreciate that. I'm a positive, bright player.

"I'm mainly a box-to-box central midfielder though I've played left-back a few times as well. I want to be the man in the middle dictating things though."

He concluded: "My aims are to start off with winning games in the early part of the season and see where that takes us. Hopefully we can push up the table."
