Anthony Backhouse will be the man in the middle for the Iron's home league clash against Stevenage.

The Cumbrian-based official will travel to the Sands Venue Stadium for his 11th game of the campaign and his fifth in Sky Bet League Two. The current season is Backhouse's third as an EFL official.

He's refereed the Iron on two previous occasions, with one of those coming on home soil. That game was a 2-0 victory over Portsmouth in which he showed no cards. Meanwhile, the latest match was just over a year ago when United clashed with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Backhouse has officiated three Stevenage encounters in the past, the most recent one in December of last year. Notably, the Boro are yet to win with him in charge, with 13 yellow cards and three reds shown across the games. Two of those dismissals have been Stevenage players.

In 2018-19, he took charge of 39 games, issuing 105 yellow cards and five reds. Meanwhile, in ten games so far this season, he's shown 39 yellow cards and one red.

On Saturday, Backhouse will be assisted by Alan Clayton and Richard Wigglesworth, while Gareth Mellor has been appointed as the fourth official.
