Andy Woolmer will be the man in the middle for the Iron's away league clash against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.
The Northamptonshire-based official will travel to Home Park for his 10th game of the campaign and second in Sky Bet League Two. The current campaign is Woolmer's 16th in the EFL.
Woolmer is a Select Group Two match official, meaning he is a professional referee who generally operates in the Championship. Despite this, an injury in January 2017 put him out for the remainder of the 2016-17 campaign before he made a comeback in September 2017 in the bottom two tiers. So far this season, he's taken charge of six Championship encounters.
His first game of the campaign was a Charlton Athletic's 2-1 away win at Blackburn Rovers on the opening day of the season. He issued three cautions on the day.
His most recent encounter came on Tuesday when he took chage of the match between Reading and Fulham at the Madejski Stadium which ended 4-1 to the visitors. The Royals were reduced to ten men after just 20 minutes with John Swift dismissed for two early cautions. In total, he showed two yellows and one red.
He's taken charge of Scunthorpe matches on no fewer than 19 previous occasions, ten of those coming at the Sands Venue Stadium. Up until last December, Woolmer hadn't refereed the Iron for over four years when he was in North Lincolnshire for the visit of Fleetwood Town. Woolmer also oversaw five of the club's Championship fixtures. In total, while refereeing United, he's shown 67 yellow cards and two reds in the 19 games.
Woolmer has taken charge of 12 Plymouth Argyle games over the last 13 years. The most recent was almost a year ago when Oxford United beat the Pilgrims 2-0 at the Kassam Stadium. Nine of the 12 encounters involving Plymouth have all come at Home Park, so Saturday will be his tenth visit as referee, although it will be his first trip there in almost four years. In the 12 games, he's shown 35 yellow cards and four reds.
In 2018-19, he took charge of 30 games, issuing 81 yellow cards and five reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in nine encounters, showing 30 yellows and two red cards.
On Saturday, he will be assisted by Mark Pottage and Graham Kane, while Robert Dabbs has been appointed as the fourth official.
