James Oldham to referee Port Vale home clash

21 November 2019

James Oldham will be the man in the middle for the Iron's home league clash against Port Vale on Saturday.

The Derbyshire-based official will travel to the Sands Venue Stadium for his 12th game of the campaign and his seventh in Sky Bet League Two.

In what is his first campaign on the EFL following his promotion to the National List at the end of last season, his first game of the campaign was Carlisle United's 2-1 home win over Crawley Town. He showed four yellow cards and one red on the day - his only dismissal this season to date.

He's yet to take charge of the Iron so far in his refereeing career so Saturday will be his first trip to North Lincolnshire.

Meanwhile, he's refereed Port Vale once already this campaign, taking charge of their 1-0 home win over Cambridge United back at the end of August. He showed four yellow cards in that match.

In 2018-19, he took charge of 18 games in the National League, including the play-off final between AFC Fylde and Salford City, issuing 55 yellow cards and three reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in 11 encounters, showing 37 yellows and one red.

On Saturday, Oldham will be assisted by Ian Smedley and Conor Brown, while David Benton has been appointed as the fourth official.
