Two first-half goals from Barnsley meant the Iron’s six match unbeaten run came to an end last time out, with Stuart McCall’s side placed 14th in the table.
Meanwhile, Stanley, who are managed by John Coleman and are placed just one position below Scunthorpe, are yet to win a league game in 2019 and didn’t play last weekend. Their last match was away at Gillingham, where they drew 0-0.
TEAM NEWS…
The Iron are waiting on Kyle Wootton, who missed last weekend's trip to Barnsley through a thigh injury but returned to training on Thursday. The striker was going to be assessed on Friday morning.
Elsewhere, Josh Morris faces a few weeks out with a fractured fibula and strained ankle ligaments.
Jordan Clarke is out for four months (knee), while Ryan Colclough (knee) is out for the remainder of the season. Rory Watson (arm) also looks likely to be out for the rest of the season following surgery this week.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson will be out up to two months with cartilage damage sustained in the recent victory over Fleetwood Town.
Also unavailable is recent arrival Jacob Bedeau (groin), and James Perch, who starts a two-match suspension after accumulating ten bookings.
PAST MEETINGS…
The Iron’s last meeting with Stanley ended 1-1 in September, which was McCall’s first game in charge.
Midfielder Matthew Lund scored his first goal for the club in that match with just ten minutes remaining on the clock, however the hosts equalised through Seamus Conneely not long after.
Overall, the two sides have faced each other 23 times, with United coming out on top ten times.

ONE TO WATCH…
Former Iron forward Billy Kee will be an Accrington dangerman when they visit Glanford Park on Saturday.
The 28-year-old has scored 68 goals in 181 games since he joined them in 2015, which includes ten this term.
Prior to joining them permanently, Kee played 44 games on loan for Stanley in the 2009/10 season.
After playing for Torquay, he then became a regular scorer for Burton before he joined the Iron in 2014. Whilst in North Lincolnshire, Kee didn't score in 16 games for the club.
