Iron to host Scunthorpe Foodbank collection

13 December 2019

Scunthorpe United are pleased to have once again teamed up with the Iron Trust to provide supporters with the opportunity to donate to Scunthorpe Foodbank this Saturday ahead of the game against Colchester United.

Food collections can be left with the Iron Trust at their stand on the way into the stadium between 2pm and 2.15pm while donations outside of this time can be left at main reception.

Volunteers will also be present prior to the game holding a bucket collection to help raise money with both food and financial donations required to keep the foodbank running.

Christmas should be a time of joy and celebration, but last year, food banks in the Trussell Trust network distributed over half a million food parcels to children across the UK.

Scunthorpe Foodbank is a Trussell Trust foodbank run by local people for local people and we rely on your goodwill and support to ensure we can continue to stop people from going hungry. Over the past 12 months we have fed 4,673 people, which is the equivalent of nearly 13 people every single day throughout the year.

If you would like to help, we are always in need of the following TINNED items: Potatoes, Meat (hot or cold), Rice Pudding, Custard, Fruit.  We are also grateful to receive: Tea, Coffee, Long Life Milk and Fruit Squash/Juice. We have giving bins in many of our local supermarkets. An extra tin in your trolley may not make a lot of difference to you, but it makes a world of difference to us.

Please visit the website at www.scunthorpe.foodbank.org.uk and follow the Scunthorpe Foodbank on Facebook. Thank you for your support, with best wishes from the Foodbank Team.
