Scott Oldham to referee Plymouth Argyle home clash

25 October 2018

Scott Oldham will be the man in the middle for the Iron's home league clash against Plymouth Argyle.

The Lancashire-based official will travel to Glanford Park for his sixth game of the campaign and his fourth in Sky Bet League One.

His first game of the campaign didn't come until the end of September and saw him referee Carlisle United's narrow home defeat against Stevenage in which he showed two cautions. His most recent appointment came on Tuesday night when he oversaw Shrewsbury Town's 3-1 home victory over Barnsley. On that occasion, he issued another four yellow cards.

He's taken charge of the Iron on two previous occasions, back in October 2017 when the side beat Oldham Athletic 3-2 at SportsDirect.com Park. On that night, he issued three cautions before taking charge of a 1-0 defeat away at Walsall in December 2017, issuing two yellow cards.

Meanwhile, he's yet to referee a match involving Plymouth Argyle. He was, however, appointed to officiate in this corresponding fixture last season on Easter Monday, but the original tie fell victim to the weather.

In 2017-18 - his debut campaign in the EFL - he took charge of 31 games, issuing 79 yellow cards and five reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in five encounters, showing 20 yellows and no reds.

On Saturday, he will be assisted by Peter Gooch and Joe Simpson, while Stephen Wade has been appointed as the fourth official.
