Olomola: I'm going to embrace the challenge

4 July 2018

Olufela Olomola has enjoyed his first week at Scunthorpe United and is excited about what’s to come.

The 20-year-old forward signed from Southampton earlier this summer and has enjoyed the process of settling in to life at his new club.

“It’s been good to get the lungs going again, and to see my new team-mates,” he told iFollow Iron.

“I’m going to adapt and try to add to what the team has here. I can see a lot of quality in it already so hopefully we can have a good season.

“I feel sharp. I’m ready to push and give everything to the team.”

The first game of the new campaign arrives at Coventry City four weeks on Saturday, and Olomola is working hard to stake his claim for a place in the team.

The attacker believes there is strong quality here already, but also feels there are extra qualities he can add.

“Everyone wants to be in that starting eleven on the first day and that’s what I want to do. I want to show the gaffer what I can do and hopefully get myself in the team,” he continued.

“It’s healthy competition and it brings the best out of everyone. I’m going to embrace the challenge. I’m hoping to bring a lot to Scunthorpe, hopefully add goals and please the fans. During the summer, I’ve been fully focused on making sure I’m fit and ready to give everything I can for Scunthorpe.”
