Going into the away game at Southend United this weekend, defender Charlie Goode is looking to build on the positives of Tuesday’s performance against Doncaster.
The 22-year-old has started in his side’s last eight games and, with competition in the squad strong, says the players with the shirt are giving it their all.
He previewed Saturday’s trip to Roots Hall with iFollow Iron.
ON THE DRAW WITH DONCASTER…
CG: I thought it was a good performance, and we came out of the blocks really well. We were devastated at the end to concede so late, after dominating for long spells. However, it was a much better performance from Saturday (against Gillingham) and we’ll look to try and get three points this Saturday now.
ON THE POSITIVES TO TAKE…
CG: There was a lot to take heart from. We started really sharply and Hops got the goal by pressing, which is something we’ve been working on as a team. We did that really well on the night, it all starts from the front and we then back them up. We’ll look to continue that on Saturday.
ON THE TEST AT SOUTHEND…
CG: A lot of the time, when a new manager comes in, it gives a team a boost for whatever reason. We’ve seen from the last two times we’ve gone there that it’s a hard place to go to. We’ll look to do better this time. We’ll learn from the past games and look to see the game out a bit better.

ON HIS RUN IN THE TEAM…
CG: I’m loving it and I want to play as much as I can. I’ve had a good run in the side and I will try my hardest to stay in it. You have to be on your toes and ready because we have such a good squad here. It’s important now that I try and keep the performances high.
