Pay on the day at Shrewsbury

29 September 2017

The Shrews are unbeaten in the league so far but United have a good record of their own, having kept seven clean sheets in the last eight league games.

Josh Morris spoke of the confidence that their record gives them going into the match and the upcoming opposition in an interview with iFollow Iron.

ON SHREWSBURY TOWN…
JM: They are doing really well this season, so it will be a really tough game. However, it’s one that we are really confident about. We are in good form ourselves and it’s one that we are looking forward to as well.

ON DRAWING CONFIDENCE FROM CLEAN SHEETS…
JM: It’s a massive thing for the team. You win the odd game here and there and the points add up but to do that you need clean sheets. There has been a lot of effort from the back four, the goalkeeper and the rest of the team as well. That has meant that there is confidence flowing throughout the team and that we can be looking forward to Saturday.

"They have done well so far but it’s always nice to try and knock the team off the top. We will just concentrate on ourselves and hopefully put in a performance that will be good enough to win on the day."

ON HOW THE CLEAN SHEETS ARE A CREDIT TO THE WHOLE TEAM…
JM: You can’t win anything from one or two players. We’ve got a big unit and a lot of effort in the team. I think that it is showing and hopefully we can keep it going.

ON APPROACHING A TOP OF THE LEAGUE SIDE…
JM: It’s still only September. We were up there last year and so know what to expect. They have done well so far but it’s always nice to try and knock the team off the top. We will just concentrate on ourselves and hopefully put in a performance that will be good enough to win on the day.

ON THE TRAVELLING FANS…
JM: On Tuesday there was a nice following. To come all the way down to Gillingham on a Tuesday night is a great effort from the fans. A lot of credit goes out to them for that and hopefully we will have another great following on Saturday to cheer us along.

ON FITNESS DURING THE FREQUENT FIXTURES…
JM: You get used to them. You do all of the pre-season and put in the hard work then so that when these games come around you’re used to them and cherish them. For me, it’s good to be playing and training as much as I can and I think that goes for most players.

ON HIS CONTRIBUTIONS FROM SET-PIECES…
JM: I fancy my chances every time that I get in a position. On Tuesday night I didn’t hit the target but I’m confident that I can pick up from that and carry on.

ON THE GILLINGHAM RESULT…
JM: They sacked their manager the day before so we were always going to experience a reaction from them. I thought that we controlled long periods of the game. However, on a Tuesday night it’s a tough place to come and so we’ll take the point, keep the run going and look forward to Saturday.

ON FACING A TEAM WITH A MANGERIAL SWITCH…
JM: I think it gives them a big change. Everyone is playing not just for their places but for their livelihoods. They all wanted to impress and we found that out on Tuesday. We did alright in periods and so I’ll take the point and move on from there.

ON THE TEAM’S FOCUS…
JM: We don’t win anything in September and so we’ll take our experience from last year and hopefully it will carry us forward.
