Loan Watch: April 2017

Taking a look at the players currently on loan away from Glanford Park…

We begin our round-up with full-back Scott Laird, whose Walsall side finished the campaign with a home loss at the hands of MK Dons. The 28-year-old made 31 appearances after joining the Saddlers in August, and found the net on four occasions for Jon Whitney’s side.

Jonathan Margetts’ Lincoln City secured their promotion back to the Football League with two games to spare, after they came from behind to defeat Macclesfield Town 2-1 at Sincil Bank. Former Iron man Terry Hawkridge got both the Imps’ goals on the day, as Danny Cowley’s team ended the season on 99 points.

Next, we go down south to the LCI Rail Stadium, where Kyle Wootton was part of a Cheltenham Town team that preserved their Sky Bet League Two status for the 2017-18 season. The Robins edged out Hartlepool United 1-0 on home turf, with Wootton coming off the bench on the 80 minute mark.

Dom Vose didn’t feature for Grimsby Town in their 3-1 away loss at Barnet last Saturday. The Mariners currently sit 14th in the League Two table, and round off the season at home to promoted Plymouth Argyle this Saturday.

Finally, Luke Williams’ Northampton Town finished the Sky Bet League One campaign with a goalless home draw against Gillingham at Sixfields Stadium. In total, Williams made eight appearances during his time at the Cobblers.
