Mantom feeling good

30 June 2017

Midfielder Sam Mantom is feeling in good shape after the first days back training and believes he will only improve.

Speaking to iFollow Iron, Mantom said he is ready for the rest of pre-season and is also looking forward to the trip to Austria.

ON HIS SUMMER BREAK…
SM: Summer was very good, probably one of the best breaks I’ve had so far. I managed to go and see some nice places and spend some time with a lot of good friends. I’m glad to be back in now and I’ve built up the last couple of weeks to be ready for now.

ON THE PRE-SEASON FIXTURES…
SM: If you can come through pre-season it’s going to be a massive help. I picked up a little injury early on in the first week of pre-season when I signed last year, and that really hindered me, but now it’s about keeping my head down and trying to stay fit.

ON THE TRIP TO AUSTRIA…
SM: I missed out last year – there was no point in me really going. I was texting a few of the lads and they said it was one of the hardest weeks they’ve done in their careers so I want to try and test myself.

ON THE AFC WIMBLEDON GAME…
SM: The gaffer has had a meeting with us and he’s reiterated that we need to start well again and every single player in the dressing room wants to do that. We want to win that first game and make sure we are at the top from the first whistle until the last.
