Good enough to be challenging

11 July 2017

Levi Sutton is hoping to play in more games this season.

The young right-back made 11 appearances for United last term and has said in an interview with iFollow Iron that he is working hard to earn more chances to play for United.

Wednesday night’s pre-season friendly at York City will give him a further chance to stake his claim for a place in the side.

ON THE NORTH FERRIBY GAME…
LS: It was just good to get the cobwebs off because obviously after a long time of not kicking the ball about it was good to get the 45 minutes, play with the lads again and a few new lads who have come in. It was good to gel together again. It was a weird one as I knew a lot of the lads there (from my previous loan spell) and the manager, Steve Housham. It was good to meet a couple of the lads that I knew.

"My goal is to just play more games and if I can have a run of fixtures then I want to do well in them."

ON HIS PERFORMANCE…
LS: I thought I did alright. I just did what I needed to do and got the fitness out of it which is the main part at this time in the season.

ON THE RESULT…
LS: It was a great result but I think deep down that we should be doing that. I think we've got a good enough team to be challenging this season.

ON PRE-SEASON…
LS: It's been tough but it has to be because it's pre-season. Everyone has got to be fit for the season ahead so it'll be very tough, but we've got to keep pushing on and just try not to get injured.

ON HIS FITNESS LEVELS…
LS: I feel good. I obviously feel better than I did at the start but I’m getting there and trying to get match fitness with the game. It’ll all come.

ON YORK…
LS: I think they're a good team. They were in the league with us not long ago so they can't be that bad. I played against them last year with Ferriby as well and they'll be a good team.

ON HIS PERSONAL GOALS…
LS: My goal is to just play more games and if I can have a run of fixtures then I want to do well in them.
