Report: Iron v Southend United

23 December 2017

The Belgian made his first appearance since November 25th as he came back from injury against the Shrimpers.

After the 3-1 success over Phil Brown’s side, Ojo provided his reaction to iFollow Iron.

ON THE GAME…
FO:
We started off really well. In the first 20 minutes we dominated. However, we needed that bit of luck in the box. When they scored it was a little bit of a disappointment and I said during half-time that we were playing so much better than them. I have that thought a lot during the games. In the second-half we picked it up again and you saw the result in the end.

ON HIS RETURN…
FO:
I wasn’t quite satisfied with my own game but I think it went well in the first-half. In the second-half I didn’t get the ball as much as I wanted to. However, I’m happy to be back out there. I spent three weeks on the sidelines. You can’t train or touch the ball and you’re sitting at home but when you get back out there that’s when you realise that this is what you’re recovering for. I couldn’t work as hard as I wanted. They had to slow me down a little bit. I came back as fast as I could.

ON WINNING IN HIS FIRST GAME BACK…
FO:
I was hoping for that. It’s always a good feeling to win. We had that winning streak going before we lost and when you come to the club and you’ve won you feel different. We want to get that winning streak going again and get as high up the table as is possible.

ON WHETHER HE WAS CONFIDENT THAT THE IRON WOULD CONVERT THEIR CHANCES…
FO:
The chances that we were creating were clear cut so I knew that they had to go in eventually.

ON COMING FROM A GOAL BEHIND AND WINNING…
FO:
That is a sign of our resilience. It also shows that we have the confidence that we’re better than our opponents. Every time we come from behind it’s because we’ve kept going and tried to get those two goals in the back of the net.

ON HOW MUCH CONFIDENCE THAT GIVES HIM IN CHASING PROMOTION…
FO:
It’s always easier when you’re 1-0 up, you keep scoring and get the clean sheet. If we keep playing like this and keep the team together, we will keep on having this feeling.

ON BACKING UP THE WIN WITH ANOTHER AT BLACKPOOL…
FO:
When you get on a winning streak, the feeling around the camp is so different and it gives you so much confidence. Therefore, we have to go over there and go for the three points again.

ON EXPERIENCING THE BUSY ENGLISH CHRISTMAS SCHEDULE FOR THE FIRST TIME…
FO:
It is new to me but I don’t mind it. I love to play football so the more games there are, the happier I am.
