Scunthorpe United Football Club would like to remind supporters about our zero-tolerance policy with regards to throwing objects, as well as the use and carrying of pyrotechnics.
Ensuring the safety of our supporters, players and staff is always of paramount importance to Scunthorpe United Football Club, and the throwing of objects and lighting of pyrotechnics at football stadia is very dangerous and a serious offence.
The club are aware that a very small minority of supporters have been involved in incidents of this nature, as recently as United's last home game against Notts County, and any supporter identified to have committed such an act will be banned by the club and also subject to the possibility of criminal prosecution and football banning orders.
Iron Safety Officer Phil Jacklin said: "I'd like to remind supporters that the possession and use of pyrotechnics, smoke bombs and throwing objects is highly dangerous and prohibited from all football stadiums.”
"Not only can it be dangerous, but the club can also suffer serious repercussions imposed by the FA, such as financial penalties - and more worryingly - someone could get seriously hurt.”
"Supporters should expect a more stringent search operation ahead of this Saturday's home league game with Oxford United, including specialist search dogs operating at entrances, and we welcome the co-operation of true supporters of this football club to report any intelligence to a steward."
Scunthorpe United Football Club will continue to work closely with the police and football authorities to stamp out this, and other types, of spectator misconduct.
We would also like to remind supporters that if there are incidents of this nature reported, then the Football Association have the power to impose serious financial penalties on the club.
The club urges all supporters to assist us in this matter by reporting any incidents to the club and help us to eradicate this behaviour.
