IN REVIEW: IRON 2-1 MIDDLESBROUGH - CHECKATRADE TROPHY

1 September 2016

Continuing a brand new web feature, we take a look at all the essentials from Tuesday's 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough in the Checkatrade Trophy.

The Iron emerged with three points in the revamped competition to end round one of fixtures at the top of Group G.

United overcame a Middlesbrough academy side with all three goals coming in the second half. Murray Wallace, captain for the evening, rose highest to head home the opener following Josh Morris' corner, with Hakeeb Adelakun restoring Scunthorpe's advantage less than 90 seconds after parity had been restored with a strike from 25-yards into the bottom corner.

The game also saw second year academy player Lewis Butroid make his first professional start at left back.
