LOOKING TO BUILD ON A MASSIVE WIN

18 October 2016

Speaking ahead of the midweek encounter at Oldham Athletic, defender Scott Wiseman feels he and his teammates will be in for a real battle at SportsDirect.com Park.

The full-back insisted that being top of the league means every opposing team views you as a scalp, which he believes is an added hurdle to negotiate.

Wiseman told The Iron PlayerHD: “It’s going to be another tough game.

“They’re a footballing team, they like to play football the right way. They’re going to come at us.

“We’re top of the league and confidence is high, which will mean every team will want to beat us whether we’re home or away. We know every game at the minute is going to a tough one for us.

“Regardless of wherever you are in the league, everyone needs the points. If you’re down there at the bottom, you need the points to get yourself out of it and if you’re at the top, you need them to maintain that gap you've got.”

Reflecting on his recent run in the side, the Gibraltar international says it’s great to come back into a side which is winning on a regular basis.

“It’s always enjoyable,” he stated.

“To come into the team and to carry on what was going on before I got into the team is a brilliant thing, and to be part of it is all the more.”

Wiseman spoke too about Saturday’s comeback win over MK Dons, and it’s a win he stated shows the togetherness which exists within the squad.

“It was a massive win in the end. To go 1-0 down, which I feel was undeserved, and show the character after half-time to come back against a strong team like MK Dons, meant it was a big result for us,” he explained.

“The victory says a lot about the side’s spirit. It’s the second or third time this year that we’ve done that and we’ve shown it’s not just a fluke.

“To know we’ve got that in our locker to come back and really take teams on, is a massive confidence boost for the squad as a whole.”
