MATCH SPONSOR PROFILE v OLDHAM

18 November 2016

Polypearl Ltd will be our match sponsors for the visit of Oldham Athletic.

We spoke to Ian Tebb about his upcoming match sponsorship and he had this to say: “My family and myself are proud to sponsor the game on Saturday, and will be hoping the boys can avenge the defeat they suffered last month at the hands of this weekend's visitors."

Polypearl Ltd is part of the Tebway Group of Companies, founded in 1983 by Chairman Ian Tebb.

He, by his own admission, is a fanatical Iron supporter and has been for some 60 years.

Ian, together with his wife Hilary, son Andrew and two daughters Marie and Michelle, is very proud of the fact that Polypearl is a family-run manufacturing business, which was started from scratch over 30 years ago.

As well as having its Head Office in Scunthorpe, Polypearl has factories in Nottingham and Gainsborough, where they produce high-quality polystyrene insulation and packaging products, which are supplied nationwide, with their own fleet of delivery vehicles.

The company began life as an installer of cavity wall insulation and within 12 months they had started to manufacture their own EPS beads at a brand new purpose-built factory in Nottingham.

In 2006 they developed the Polypearl Platinum bonded bead system, with graphite added to the polystyrene beads to improve their energy saving qualities. Polypearl are now confident the unique system has universal recognition as being the best cavity wall insulation money can buy. Polypearl platinum is installed into homes all over the country by a hand picked network of well-known insulation companies.

Polypearl has, for many years, also produced fire retardant polystyrene beads for soft furnishing and if you have ever bought a bean bag or even a top-up bag of beads, there is a very good chance that Polystyrene beads are Polypearl beads.

Five years ago, the company expanded even further and now, from their factory in Gainsborough, produce the highest quality Polystyrene blocks, moulded from Polypearl beads in a vacuum press, which are then hot wire cut into sheets and boards of insulation for use in floors walls and roof spaces.

The blocks are also sold to a host of other businesses that convert the blocks into all sorts of different shapes to be used for packaging. This year Polypearl have installed a brand new profile cutter at their factory in Gainsborough, in order to supply an increasing demand for their high-quality material in more complex shapes to purpose fit around and inside their customer’s products to protect and insulate them which ensures they arrive at their destination in pristine condition.

Continuing our chat with Ian, he was in a nostalgic mood when he added: “I remember the early days, when I supported the Iron as a schoolboy from the age of seven, watching many of the games at the Old Show Ground.”

He admits he is frustrated that the crowds aren’t as high as they used to be in those days and is hopeful more fans will come and show their support for the Iron adding: “We are top of the league and all the players are giving 100% effort every week, playing with commitment and energy, scoring goals and keeping clean sheets.”

Finally, Ian added: “It’s great to be an Iron supporter this season, we have an excellent team with strength in-depth. We also have a brilliant young manager who is just as hungry for success as the supporters are and has such a refreshing attitude.”

We thank our match sponsors Polypearl Ltd for their support of the club and hope they have a great day with us. Special thanks must also go to our matchball sponsor for the visit of Oldham, who is Lee Collinson.
