With the 2015/16 season now over, plans to dig up and relay a new top layer to the pitch commenced on Tuesday morning.
With around six weeks to prepare for the players and coaching staff’s return for pre-season and around eight weeks until the Glanford Park surface is likely to be next in use, the Iron's ground staff, in partnership with FineTurf, have got to work to ensure the best possible surface ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
The top three inches of turf will be removed, with new seeds planted beneath the grass amongst the recently replenished soil.
UPDATE: As of 11am on May 17, the top layers of the playing surface at Glanford Park have been completely removed.
