TEAM VERRICO COLLECTION A SUCCESS

4 May 2016

Our final home game of the regular season saw Team Verrico return in force to Glanford Park as they held their annual bucket collection.

In a story which is remembered, empathised and has affected a large number of Iron supporters, chair of the charity Paul Verrico once again assembled an army of volunteers to help raise money for the cause.

While the club are awaiting formal writing from the charity's secretary, Paul has confirmed to the club that the figure collected when we faced Port Vale on April 30 neared the £1,300 mark.

Paul said: "It's pretty inspiring to know so many of the fanbase remembered the story and wanted to stay close."

The next venture for Team Verrico occurs later today (Wednesday, May 4) when Glyn Sparks hosts his annual charity football match at Birch Park, Bottesford. The match is a minimum £1 donation to entry, with the match kicking off at 6.30pm. A number of former Iron legends dust off their boots to take part with Wembley heroes Matt Sparrow and Cliff Byrne among two to be making an appearance.
