THANKS FOR YOUR DONATIONS

30 March 2016

In June, three cyclists will be representing Scunthorpe United on the 2016 Football to Amsterdam cycling challenge.

Adam Grice, Mick Roden and Nathan Skidmore will be cycling from Barnsley’s Oakwell Stadium to the Ajax Arena over the first weekend in June.

The trio will be joined by hundreds of others each representing different Football League clubs on the two day 145 mile challenge from Barnsley to Amsterdam.

Day One will see the riders cycle South East out of the South Yorkshire town and along the beautiful Dearne Valley, across agricultural areas and quiet roads heading north around Doncaster and over the wash and into Hull for the finish before boarding the overnight Ferry for the overnight journey to Holland.

If you wish to see us on our journey, stop off points will be later confirmed.

Once arriving in Rotterdam for Day Two we will disembark the Ferry to begin the final leg of the journey; 74 miles North to Ajax Stadium, Amsterdam.

Day Two is slightly less arduous and affords you the time to get to know your group and form a real team spirit as you journey through the Netherlands on flat non hilly cycle tracks. You cycle straight into Amsterdam over canal after canal to finish at the famous Ajax Stadium.

Donating is simple, you can visit their JustGiving page (https://www.justgiving.com/CycleChallengeSUFC) or you can text SUFC88 and ‘The Amount’ to 70070.

£374.53 was raised by a bucket collection at the recent home game against Chesterfield. We’d like to thank everyone who donated and those who assisted with the bucket collection.

£52.19 was raised by the supporters who travelled to Barnsley on the club's supporters' coaches. We’d like to thank Jerry Mahoney and John Staff for helping with the collection and all the fans on the two coaches that donated.
