Iron winger Gary McSheffrey has joined Doncaster Rovers on loan until the end of the season.

The 33-year-old signed for the club in January 2014, with United en route to promotion from League Two, making 13 appearances as the team finished as runners-up.

He scored the first of 15 goals for the Iron in August 2014 from a 35-yard free kick at home to Walsall, before netting three days later in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy success against Chesterfield.

Once a £4-million signing for Birmingham City from home town Coventry, McSheffrey has made a total of 91 appearances for Scunthorpe in all competitions, scoring 15 goals, inclusive of 12 in the league.

McSheffrey joins up with Doncaster ahead of their relegation six-pointer with Colchester United on Good Friday and an equally important home fixture with Blackpool on Easter Monday.
