Latest summer signing Sam Mantom can't wait to get started on Friday after signing a three-year deal with the club.
The 24-year-old midfielder narrowed down his options and described United as the "perfect fit" after completing his move from Walsall."I'm over the moon," he told The Iron PlayerHD.
"It's been a few weeks in progress and it's something that I'm delighted to get over the line and worked hard for. I met up with Graham three or four weeks ago and we just had a general chat and how he wants the future to go with me and his team. Scunthorpe was the perfect fit."
After success with Walsall last season which saw the Saddlers defeated in the play-off semi-finals, the Stourbridge-born player is eager to emulate the club's ambitions and go one further in the forthcoming campaign.
"That's the burning desire from the manager, the chairman, all the staff and the players," he continued.
"That's the main aim and last season was a really good season for myself. It was good to get into the play-offs for the first time and I'm sure this season, if we start off well, we can do that.
"It was a big season last season. I felt better than ever and I've got to settle in here and get started and I'll be good to go.
"I made over 40 appearances for Walsall last season and scored a few goals as well and it'd be nice to get Scunthorpe into that position. With a manager like Graham Alexander in charge, I don't see any reason why not."
He joins Josh Morris as one of the new recruits at United and is already looking to add something extra to the existing squad and will meet his new teammates for the first time on Friday.
"I'd like to think I'm a fit lad, so play as a box-to-box midfielder," he stated.
"I can get up and down the pitch and cover a lot of ground. I like to get on the ball and start attacks but also get into the box and score some goals as well. I got nine last season, so I'm looking to build on that.
"Hopefully me and Josh (Morris) can add more to the lads who are here already and get a good pre-season."
