Ben Toner will referee the Iron's first match of the season, at home to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
Toner refereed two United clashes last season, both at home to Barnsley and Port Vale respectively.Throughout the 2015-16 campaign, in the 28 games the Lancashire man officiated, he produced 101 yellow and six red cards.
He was the man in the middle for two Rovers games last season too, against York City and AFC Wimbledon, with a red card being shown in the latter.
He will be assisted on Saturday by linesmen Alf Greenwood and Iain Siddall, with David Benton taking up the role of fourth official.
