WILLIAMS COULD PLAY A PART

7 October 2015

Iron manager Mark Robins has issued an injury update ahead of the weekend’s game away at Oldham Athletic.

The main returnee is attacking midfielder Luke Williams who played just over an hour for the development side in a 2-0 victory over Rotherham United on Tuesday afternoon.

Having seemingly come through the hour unscathed and with a promising performance, he has shown fantastic signs of recovery to play just seven-and-a-half weeks after suffering the injury on the opening day of the season.

Speaking prior to the match on Tuesday, Robins told The Iron PlayerHD: “He’s in the early stages of his recovery, but we want him involved as soon as we possibly can do.

“I’m looking to see if the movement is there and will be looking to see whether we can get him involved in some way for the game on Saturday (at Oldham). We’re hoping that he comes through the game okay and has sufficient signs in his legs to be able to play a part on Saturday.”

Murray Wallace was withdrawn at the interval of last week’s 1-0 victory over Fleetwood Town, with the manager giving an update on his situation.

“Murray isn’t great. He’s come off with a bang and he is sore," he said.

"We’ve got to wait and see how he responds to the treatment. Hopefully by Friday we will know definitively whether or not he is going to be able to play.

"Nessy (Jamie Ness) is definitely out though. We’ve had a week since his injury and the timescale is three weeks, so we are looking at another fortnight.

“He might heal a little quicker though and if his body tells him he can do a little more quicker, so he could be anywhere from ten days to a fortnight.”
