WE NEED TO GET OURSELVES GOING AGAIN

23 November 2015

United defender Scott Laird says the Iron weren't at their best in their 2-0 defeat to Bradford City.

"I just didn't think today we had any idea of how we wanted to score a goal today," he told The Iron PlayerHD.

"I think it was a bit of hope that we'd just score and see it out.

"Fair play to Bradford, to come here with the game plan that they had and the way they played.

"I just think today, we weren't at the races. We started off with the first couple of chances, in the first 10/15 minutes."

Despite the defeat, Laird highlighted that if United can rediscover the form of October, then things can be put right fairly quickly.

"We've seen it in this league that anyone can beat anyone on their day and a good month like we've had can shoot you straight back up the table," he said.

"We know, with the games coming up thick and fast - Tuesday, Saturday we can put things right."

On a personal level, the left-back made his return to the first team fold, after missing the previous Saturday's defeat at Swindon through suspension.

However, in spite of his inclusion, he stated that the result always comes first from his point of view.

He said: "It's great to be in the side, but always a disappointment when you lose.

"So I'm not going to go away from this feeling positive to be in the side, because we lost.

"I need to personally get myself going, because they nullified us down the wings and that's something we've been very good at."
