LIGHT UP FOR SAVE OUR STEEL DAY

6 November 2015

We are pleased to confirm the Emirates FA Cup first round clash against Southend United on Saturday, November 7 will be dedicated to the steel workers and their families.

There will be a variety of events happening over the course of the day to show the football club’s support for the thousands of local people that are affected by the recent news about the loss of jobs, as well as to promote the Save Our Steel campaign.

As part of the day, the Scunthorpe United players will warm up in special ‘Save Our Steel’ t-shirts while coaching staff will be wearing them on the bench. There will be extra coverage in the matchday programme, on the website and social media as well as representatives collecting signatures for the Save Our Steel petition.

The club are also encouraging supporters to take part in a show of support for the steelworkers by holding up their phones with the camera lights on as the players re-emerge at half time and for one minute into the second half.

We are also open to further supporter lead ideas to enhance the message on the day and would encourage anyone with an idea to contact the Head of Marketing, Rob Noble at the club or on email, rob.noble@scunthorpe-united.co.uk.

Tickets are on sale for the game at reduced prices. Click here for full details. Information on how to download the posters for the game can be found here
