KING LOOKS FOR THE RIGHT RESPONSE

24 November 2015

Iron midfielder Jack King has called on the side to recapture their October form at Bury on Tuesday night.

United enjoyed a great run in October, but have lost their last two matches, including Saturday’s defeat at home to Bradford.

Scunthorpe head to Bury looking to bounce back though and King is pleased that the opportunity to return to winning ways has come around quickly.

King told The Iron PlayerHD: “If you lose a game you obviously want to respond in the right way.

“We have not done that from the previous weekend, so it is nice to get a game so soon and we're looking to put that right.

“It didn't really reach the levels we have set over the past few months. If we keep putting the performances like we did in October, then we will pick up results.

“The last two games we have been off it and that is why we've been rolled over.”

Bury will prove a tough opponent for United though, with David Flitcroft’s side currently in the League One top six after a great start.

King was confident that the team could get a result though and felt that everyone was confident of bouncing back with a win.

He said: “They are going to be up there at the end of the season as they are a good side.

“We have got to put things right, and in many ways it will be a similar game to Saturday.

“It will be tricky playing away from home, but we're fully confident that we can get a result.”

The Iron midfielder also urged the team to look to replicate their run of form that saw them climb into the top half.

King said: “Preparation has been good and you can't dwell on defeats for too long and get down. We did that well in October and pressed on to get a couple of wins on the bounce.

“We need to go on another run similar to that if we want to be in and around it and hopefully that will start tomorrow.

“A lot of the games in this league are similar. If we are up to the levels we were in October, then we won't get beaten by many teams.”

King has proved a versatile addition to the squad since his summer move from Preston, and he feels he has adjusted to the midfield role he has starred in lately.

He said: “I like it in there, and the results have been pleasing. We have had fairly settled team, which has helped us.

“It is always going to take time to get consistency when you change position, but I think I'll only get better the more I play in that position.

“It has coincided with our run of results, but it has been a collective effort all over the pitch.

“We need to get back to that. You win nothing as individuals, and we win and lose as a team.”
