FUTSAL MATCHES ARE A LUXURY, BUT WE WILL GO TO WIN

15 May 2015

Speaking ahead of the Soccer AM Cup Final, Futsal Manager Gav Cooper has praised his side's preparations.

He also spoke about the players' commitment to the course as a whole, with the Soccer AM Cup merely a luxury to the hard work and endeavour put into the Extended Diploma, both on and off the Futsal field.

“It’s not a case of running trials and picking the best players," Gav told The Iron Player.

“Generally the course is about education – and that is the main thing. The lads have to get at least 4 A*-C’s, inclusive of English and Maths to get into the course in the first place.

“It starts from there really. They get their results, come through the door and work towards their Extended BTEC Diploma in Sport, which will become their A-Levels. The most important aspect of the whole course is that.

He added: “They don’t get to play day-after-day or even train day-after-day, so really this is their reward as if they don’t do their work they don’t train or play.”

The Futsal scholarship is a BTEC Extended Diploma ran by Gav and the Scunthorpe United Trust. For more information email gavsufcfutsal@hotmail.co.uk.
