HAYWOOD APPOINTED AS CHESTERFIELD REFEREE

6 January 2015

Mark Haywood will be the referee as the Iron face Chesterfield in the third round of the FA Cup at Glanford Park on Tuesday night.

This will be Haywood’s 24th game in charge this season, after officiating in the Championship to League Two. He has also taken games in the Capital One Cup, Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and earlier rounds of the FA Cup.

So far this season, Haywood has showed 65 yellow cards across the 23 games he been charge of, but only showing three red cards within that time.

Haywood has already been to Glanford Park this season as he refereed the League One fixture between Scunthorpe and Coventry City, a game the Iron won 2-1, thanks to goals from Paddy Madden and Lyle Taylor. Haywood did show one of his three red cards in that game, sending off Reda Johnson midway through the first half.

Last season Haywood made a trip to Glanford Park too, as he officiated the game between the Iron and Bristol Rovers in League Two. The game finished 1-1, with Sam Winnall getting the goal for Scunthorpe. Haywood only showed one yellow card during the match, booking Rovers’ Mark McChrystal.

Overall last season, Haywood dished out 74 yellow cards across 35 games, and only showed five red cards.

Haywood will be assisted by Karl Evans and Billy Khatib, whilst Ricky Wootton will be the Fourth Official for the fixture.
