WE DESERVED SOMETHING

21 December 2015

United full-back Scott Wiseman was disappointed with the defeat on Saturday to Sheffield United, a match he felt he and his teammates deserved more from.

Former Iron frontman Billy Sharp dispatched neatly from a Blades corner not long after the half time break to give his side the lead, and ultimately all three points.

Speaking after the match, Wiseman was happy, despite the loss, that the Iron had reduced a good side in Sheffield United to minimal chances.

He told The Iron PlayerHD: “There are positives to be taken from the game, so we’re not too down about it. Yeah, it’s a defeat – but it’s against one of the top teams in the division, and they’ve come here and not really created anything.

“They’ve had a few corners and a few set pieces, and that’s all they’ve had in the game. The positives we need to take from the game are we created the best chances, and deserved to get something from the match.”

Wiseman says the Iron need to work on changing their mentality in matches where one goal could be decisive.

He stated: “That’s what the big teams always do – they always find a way to get the win. We need to get into that mentality of somehow trying a find a way to win, and especially not to lose.”

United travel to neighbours Doncaster Rovers on Boxing Day, in what will be a huge chance for the team to turn their fortunes around going into the New Year.

He continued: “Everybody’s excited for it. I’m not a believer in records and stuff like that, these games are individual so we will be going into it just like that.”
