IRON SUPPORT COMMUNITY CHAMPION AWARDS

9 December 2015

Scunthorpe United supported the local Community Champion Awards 2015 at the end of November.

The awards ceremony took place on November 26 at The Baths Hall in which 22 awards were presented to deserving winners at the inspiring event.

Scunthorpe Cooperative Junior Choir, Outwood Academy Foxhills Dance Club and Broughton Primary School Choir entertained the audience at the event with their stunning performances and well-known radio presenter, Blair Jacobs, compered for the evening.

A total of 144 nominations were received for the 22 categories, with the awards, now in their fourth year, recognising people and groups who have gone the extra mile to help others in their community.

Chairman Peter Swann, alongside Director Karin Swann and First Team Manager Mark Robins represented the Iron on the evening and the club were delighted to be given the opportunity to sponsor the Sports Achiever of the Year award.

Congratulations to the winner of the category, Alan Rayment, while the runner-up accolade was awarded to Anya Snow.

Councillor John Briggs, council cabinet member for Assets, Culture and Housing said: "It was a great night and we try and get different things year on year.

"I think it is such an important thing to recognise very special people and groups in North Lincolnshire, particularly those that do things on the care front.

"Everybody that was nominated was a winner."
