A GOOD COUPLE OF GAMES

30 December 2015

Iron defender David Mirfin felt on reflection Monday's 1-1 draw with Rochdale was a fair scoreline.

Mirfin said the openings which both United and the visitors had, meant a share of the points was the best and most probable outcome.

"Probably looking at the whole of the game as a ninety minutes, a draw is a fair result," he told The Iron PlayerHD.

"I think both teams will probably come off thinking they both could have won it, and when both teams are saying that, I think a draw is probably a fair result."

In addition, Mirfin also highlighted the heroics of 'keeper Luke Daniels, who produced a string of saves to keep the two sides level.

And despite the great opportunity which fell to substitute Darius Henderson ten minutes from time, the centre-back reiterated a point was what he and his team-mates deserved from the game.

"On one hand you could say Darius' chance was a good one, but equally up the other end Luke's saved us and got us a point," he said.

Mirfin believes to take four points from the two games against Doncaster and Rochdale is a positive, and can be built on for the visit of Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

He stated the two results will give everyone in the camp an added confidence boost, going into the clash with the Latics.

"To get the result on Boxing Day and combine it with today, I think it's been a good couple of games," he added.

"When you play two games like this in quick succession, I think the worst thing you can do is come out of it with no points."

"And to come out of it with four, and going into another home game on Saturday, it does give us a good building block, and I think it should fill us up with a lot of confidence."
