United striker Paddy Madden says it's up to the players themselves to convince supporters to sign up to the new 12th Man scheme.
Madden has been in prolific form during pre-season, but the Irishman feels that the players should persuade more fans to get on board by their performances on the pitch."If a few more sign up that's brilliant, but it's up to us to give them something to cheer about when we're on the pitch," he told The Iron PlayerHD.
"Since I've got here the fans have been brilliant, they travel in their numbers, which makes it good for us. It's great when you're playing away and you know there's a lot of fans travelling.
"Any good club needs a good fanbase and we've certainly got that."
The frontman says that the players appreciate the turnout for both the pre-season games and the photoshoot which took place on Monday, with a vast amount of supporters attending.
He said: "The turnout from the fans was brilliant, it just shows that they're going to support the team 100% and we'll look forward to doing well for them this season."
Madden is optimistic about the upcoming season and feels that the fans have a big part to play in ensuring that the Iron have a successful campaign.
He stated: "The fans will be massive, they're the ones who get us going. It's very important that we're all together and that we make it a fortress at home.
"The gaffer has got us playing some lovely football and we're all excited for the season to start on Saturday, and me personally I feel it's going to be a good year."

CONCESSIONS:
To qualify for a junior under 12s season ticket, your date of birth must be after 31st August 2003. To purchase an under 16 season ticket you must be born after 31st August 1999. To purchase an under 18 season ticket you must be born between 31st August 1997 and 1st September 1999. To qualify for an 18-21 season ticket you must be born between 1st September 1994 and 31st May 1997. To qualify for an over 65 season ticket you must be born before 31st August 1950, because the senior concession age is changing from 60 to 65. However, if you are already in receipt of a senior season ticket you will be able to continue at the concessionary rate.
DIRECT DEBIT SCHEME:
This is in six equal payments, starting with your first payment when you make the purchase and then five further payments, starting in June until October.
As always, you will benefit from reserved seating for all league matches and first refusal for your seat for home cup matches along with priority tickets for away cup matches.
