GETTING TO COLCHESTER

17 April 2015

Here is a guide for all supporters making the trip to see us take on Colchester United this weekend.

BY CAR:
From Glanford Park take the first exit from the roundabout onto Doncaster Road/A18. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto M181 heading to Humber Bridge/Doncaster/M180 and then take the exit onto M180 toward Hull/Grimsby/Airport. In 6.5 miles, at junction 4, take the A15 exit to Scunthorpe/Lincoln/Brigg/A18. Get on the A1 in Coddington from the A15 and A46 and stay on the road for 37 miles. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A15 and then in just over 10 miles take the 2nd exit on the roundabout to stay on the A15. At the next roundabout, once again, take the 2nd exit to stay on the A15. Take the 3rd exit at the next roundabout onto the A46 and then in two miles, at the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit to stay on the A46. Take the 2nd exit on the upcoming roundabout and then in two miles take the 3rd exit at the Skellingthorpe Roundabout. At the Doddington Roundabout take the 2nd exit and stay on the A46. Take the 2nd exit at the next five roundabouts before taking the A1 ramp to Grantham/Balderton. Continue on the A1 and then take the M11 to A120 in Essex by taking exit 8 from the M11. In 103 miles merge onto the A1 and follow the signs for London. In 58 miles keep left at the fork to stay on the A1(M). Continue onto the A14 for 16 miles and then continue onto the M11 for 28 miles, following signs to London. At junction 8, take the A120 exit to Stansted Airport/Colchester.  Get on the A12 from the A120 for 33 miles and then at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A120.  At Priory Wood Roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A120 ramp to Colchester and then continue onto the A120 for 17 miles. At the next few roundabouts take the 2nd exit, 3rd exit and then the 2nd exit to stay on the A120. Merge onto A12 via the ramp to Colchester/Harwich and then follow the A12 to Mile End. Take exit 28 from the A12 and then the Weston Homes Community Stadium is 1 mile ahead.

BY TRAIN:
For Iron fans looking to travel to Colchester on the train, be prepared for a 4 hour and 20 minute journey. In order to arrive at the stadium by 2 o’clock it would be advisable to catch the 09:19 train at Scunthorpe station. This arrives at Doncaster at 10:00 and there is a 25 minute wait until the next train, which leaves at 10:25 and arrives at London Kings Cross at 11:56. The train from Kings Cross leaves at 12:11 and arrives at 12:22 at London Liverpool Street. The last train of your journey leaves London Liverpool Street at 12:38 and arrives at Colchester at 13:40. There is a free shuttle bus from the station to the stadium, which is two miles away, and it takes approximately 10 minutes.

PUBS AND GRUB:
There are very few establishments within easy walking distance of the ground at present. One option for Scunthorpe supporters is to grab a drink and something to eat from the town centre before getting the bus over to the stadium. There are plenty of places to go including the Fox and Fiddler which serves a number of real ales. Also on St John's Street and almost next door is the Playhouse, which is a Wetherspoons outlet.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
Iron supporters will be situated in the North stand which can hold up to 2,000 fans. Facilities are as good as you'd expect them to be from such a new ground whilst the food ranges from sausage rolls and pies to burgers and chips.
