GETTING TO BRISTOL CITY

4 September 2014

The Iron following will be taking the long journey down to Bristol this weekend for Scunthorpe’s first away game since the 1-1 draw at Yeovil almost two weeks ago

Ashton Gate Stadium…
Ashton Gate has been the home of Bristol City since their first formation as Bristol South End back in 1900. The ground is also shared by Bristol Rugby Club who play in the Rugby Football Union Championship. It has a capacity of 21,497, making it the seventh-largest ground in League One. Plans were approved in late 2013 to redevelop certain areas of Ashton Gate in order to increase its capacity to 29,000 by the 2016/17 campaign.

Getting There…
Head towards the M180 before moving onto the M1. Take the exit on Junction 23A, merge onto the A42 and continue down the M42 towards Tamworth and Birmingham.

You will want to stay on the M42, following signs toward London and the M40. Join the M5 and exit onto the M4 towards Bristol at junction 15. After exiting at junction 19 onto the Ring Road, merge onto the M32.

Continue on the A4032 and take a slight left when you get to Temple Way, otherwise known as the A4044. Take the second exit at the roundabout, heading towards the A4. You will then come across another roundabout, at which you should again take the second exit onto Clarence Road.

Continue down Clarence Road, following the A370 before turning left onto Greenway Bush Lane. Stay on here for approximately a third of a mile then turn right onto North Street. Look for signs for Ashton Road and you will find the stadium on the left.

For Your Information…
Previous visiting supporters have praised the range of pubs dotted around the stadium, suggesting the likes of The Hen and Chicken, The Ship and Castle and The Robins. The waterfront area is strongly recommended if the weather is nice. Bristol Temple Meads railway station can be found less than a mile away from the ground, meaning you can walk there in less than fifteen minutes.

Parking…
On-site parking is limited to permit holders and there are very little options for on-street parking. Visiting fans tend to opt for using the car park on Ashton Vale Road which is reasonably priced and located a 2-minute walk from the Ashton Gate Stadium.
