IRON APPOINT NICK DAWS

United have appointed Nick Daws as first team coach.

He joins manager Mark Robins and assistant manager Ned Kelly as part of a new look Iron management team.

Daws leaves his position as Queens Park Rangers academy’s head of coaching and coach education.

He enjoyed a 13-year playing career in the Football League, most notably as a midfielder at Bury before periods with Rotherham United and Grimsby Town.

Following his retirement from playing in 2005, Daws joined the coaching staff at Rotherham United - as a fitness coach before becoming first team coach and aiding now Iron boss Robins in his reign with the Millers.

Daws joined Barnsley in the same role, when Robins was appointed as boss at Oakwell - before departing when Robins left in 2011.

Daws started the 2012–13 season in a new role as professional development coach at QPR before taking on the role of head of coaching there in September 2014.
