OLEJNIK AND BRISLEY IN CONTENTION

5 November 2014

Ahead of the FA Cup first round clash at Forest Green, assistant manager Ned Kelly is delighted to report that at least two of United’s loan players will be available for selection.

Peterborough pair Bobby Olejnik and Shaun Brisley have both been granted permission by their parent club to play in the fixture but Scunthorpe are still waiting to hear whether fellow loanees Luke O’Neill and Luke Williams will be allowed to feature.

And Kelly is hoping that the squad of players that are picked will be able to help the team pick up a positive result.

He told The Iron Player: “Having Bobby and Shaun available is a big boost.

“You want good players to be involved in the squad so we’ll happily bring them back into the squad of 18 players and hopefully to get the job done.”

When asked about the two Luke’s, O’Neill and Williams, Kelly confirmed that the club are still waiting to hear if the duo will be given the go ahead to play.

This weekend’s game is being contested a day later than the players are normally used to, due to its selection as part of the BBC’s FA Cup Final Score show.

And whilst Kelly admits it’s strange to be preparing for a game on a Sunday, he stressed that it won’t distract the team from their objective of progressing to the next round.

He continued: “It’s very strange having football on a Sunday.

“We’ll pick the best eleven to hopefully win the game based on what we’ve seen during the week and taking into consideration what went on at the weekend.

“We will have to make a couple of changes I would imagine and, as I say, we’re looking to win.”

Meanwhile Kelly also revealed that the club are still waiting to hear whether Brisley’s current loan spell can be extended any further.
