IRON SIGN BRINDLEY ON LOAN

25 November 2014

United have completed the loan signing of Rotherham defender Richard Brindley.

The full-back enters the squad for Saturday's away clash at Barnsley and joins until Saturday, January 3.

Brindley arrived at New York Stadium in the summer of 2013 from local rivals Chesterfield after catching the eye of Millers boss Steve Evans in the 2012/13 season

The former Norwich City youth player featured 21 times for the club’s reserves whilst at Carrow Road before dropping out of the Football League following his release in 2012.

Brindley then joined Chelmsford City where his contribution caught the eye of Chesterfield manager Paul Cook, and after playing just 24 games for the Clarets the full-back subsequently signed a deal at the B2Net Stadium in January 2013.

Brindley featured 12 times for the Spireites in the 2012/13 season before putting pen-to-paper with the Millers in May 2013.

After starting the season in the full-back position for the 13/14 curtain raiser against Crewe, he spent time out of the side before coming back strongly at the end of the campaign starting the final league game and the play-off semi-final away leg against Preston.

He also featured in the play-off final success against Leyton Orient, coming on as a second half substitute.

He has made one Capital One Cup and two Championship appearances so far this season.
