IRON TRAVEL ON FRIDAY MORNING

14 March 2014

United manager Russ Wilcox says the Iron will replicate their preparations from the earlier season trip to Portsmouth as they seek a winning result at Plymouth.

Scunthorpe are gearing up for a 320-mile trek this weekend as they seek three points which could take them back up to the top of League Two.

"We had a good session on Thursday. It was fairly light because we had the game in midweek but it's just about rest and recovery now," Wilcox explained to The Iron Player about the pre-match work.

"We're getting ourselves ready for a big game against Plymouth.

"We will travel down on Friday morning.

"It's what we did for the Portsmouth game (in November when Scunthorpe won 2-1) and that worked for us.

"That way too, we will miss all the traffic. It's our longest journey of the season and we need to prepare as best we can.

"We will have a light session once we arrive there on Friday afternoon, and there is a nice pool down at the hotel as well so we'll make use of that."

"We have made sure the lads who aren't in the starting eleven are ticking over," he continued.

"They had a really good training session on Thursday. With the lads playing regularly, we just need to get them ready for the last ten games."
