BURTON SIGNS NEW DEAL

9 June 2014

Following a return from his holiday, the Iron can confirm that striker Deon Burton has put pen to paper on a new one-year contract.

The Jamaican international, who was awarded Sky Bet League Two’s Player of the Month for December in the last campaign, has secured a deal to keep him wearing claret and blue for at least another season.

Burton’s role last season was prominent in Scunthorpe gaining promotion, with a debut goal against Burton Albion, ironically, and a vital brace against Morecambe, before both scoring and injuring himself in a 3-3 away draw against Dagenham & Redbridge.

His rehabilitation would extend towards the end of the season before he returned to the squad to aid his side over the finishing line, completing two successive promotions from League Two - having done it with Gillingham only twelve months prior.

In total, over the course of last season, the striker scored six goals in 33 appearances for his fifteenth career club.

Burton has signed a one-year deal with the club as the side head into their League One season.
