United kick-off their 2014-15 pre-season fixtures with an away trip to Bottesford Town on Wednesday evening.
The players returned from their trip to Champneys Health Spa on Monday and will now step up their pre-season preparations with under a month to go until the start of the new Sky Bet League One campaign.New signings Jennison Myrie-Williams, Neal Bishop and Lyle Taylor are all in line to don the Iron shirt for the first time at Birch Park.
Last season’s top goal scorer Sam Winnall and Player of the Year Sean McAlister will also be in line to feature as well as academy graduate Curtis Bateson.
Central defensive pairing David Mirfin and Niall Canavan played the majority of Scunthorpe’s matches together last season and should both play in front of captain Sam Slocombe who is set to appear in goal.
Paddy Madden and Deon Burton could also be selected up front and manager Russ Wilcox is expected to give most of his player’s time on the pitch during the game.
Bottesford finished third in the Northern Counties East League Division One last season and will themselves be looking for a morale boosting victory to aid their pre-season groundwork.
The Iron won 6-0 in the fixture between the two sides, which has been played out regularly over recent years, last year and will be looking for a repeat performance on Wednesday.
United supporters can pay on the day and prices are £6 for adults and £3 for concessions.
