GETTING BACK INTO OUR STRIDE

9 July 2014

Defender Marcus Williams believes the Iron are strongly equipped to be a force in League One next season.

The left-back has been back in training for just under a week and is impressed with what he's seen from the squad so far.

"It's gone well. We're just getting back into our stride and getting used to being back in training and playing football again," the former Sheffield United man explained to The Iron Player.

"We've had a nice break and finished the season on a high last year. Now we need to put that aside, start the new season and get back to work.

"Pre-season is never easy, and the running side is always tough, but it's part and parcel of the job and has to be done.

"The boys are just raring to go and everyone is happy to be back.

"I'm just looking forward to the season."

Friday will see the squad make the trip to Champneys for a pre-season bonding trip.

"We're at Champneys for a long weekend so that will give us the chance to welcome the new boys in," added Williams.

"It gives us a chance for some team bonding. There will be tough training to do up there but we're all raring to go."
