LOAN WATCH

9 April 2014

Luke Hornsey played a full 90 minutes for Frickley Athletic on Saturday.

However, he could not prevent the side from suffering a 2-1 defeat away from home.

The Scunthorpe loanee, who recently celebrated his 20th birthday, was played in the centre of midfield as the blues succumbed to a last minute winner against Grantham Town.

Grimsby have two Scunthorpe loanees in their ranks at the moment, both of which featured in the weekend match against Kidderminster. Andrew Boyce helped the Mariners to a clean sheet, playing in the centre of defence alongside Shaun Pearson.

Connor Jennings replaced Ross Hannah with 12 minutes to go but did not have enough time on the pitch to have a large impact.

Both Jamie Wootton and Curtis Bateson featured for Gainsborough against promotion chasers Hednesford Town at the weekend. Wootton started the game and lasted the whole 90 minutes, whereas Bateson came on off the bench, replacing Darryn Stamp in the 69th minute.

The midfielder could’ve scored the equaliser in a game that ended 2-1 to the away side; however, his effort came back off the post with less than ten minutes left.

Matt Godden is currently on loan at Tamworth, a team who suffered a 5-0 away defeat to Gateshead. The Scunthorpe striker came off the bench about ten minutes after the interval but did not get much of a chance in front of goal.

Gateshead scored three goals in the last few minutes of the game, forcing Tamworth, who are second-to-bottom in the Conference, to a heavy defeat.
