IRON 10/11 FAVOURITES FOR THE LEAGUE

17 April 2014

Scunthorpe are 10/11 favourites to clinch the Sky Bet League 2 title after main rivals Rochdale stumbled to a 3-0 defeat at Mansfield last week.

The Iron moved three points clear of Dale in the race for the title despite being held to a 2-2 draw by Bury, who salvaged a last-gasp equaliser at Glanford Park last Saturday.

Russ Wilcox's  men can clinch promotion on Good Friday should they win at Morecambe and fourth-placed Fleetwood lose at Cheltenham.

And the Iron (11/10) are strong favourites with the Football League sponsor to extend their record-breaking unbeaten run to 27 matches at the Globe Arena.

Morecambe have failed to win in eight matches but their 2-2 draw with Fleetwood ended a losing run of three successive 1-0 defeats.

Despite their poor run, the Cod Army have only conceded six goals in their last five matches so Scunthorpe to win by exactly one goal could be worth investment at 13/8.

The visitors have also kept clean sheets in their last three away matches and are 5/2 shots to maintain that run.

Scunthorpe won the corresponding fixture 2-0 last December courtesy of a Deon Burton brace and are a 17/2 chance to win by the same margin on Friday.

Paddy Madden and substitute Paul Hayes were both on target against Bury and are 8/1 repeat the feat against the Cod Army, while top scorer Sam Winnall is a 7/2 shot to break the deadlock.
