BET ON THE NATIONAL, AND HELP YOUR CLUB!

4 April 2014

If you’re having a bet on the Crabbies Grand National this weekend why don’t you do it with the official betting partner of the Football League – Sky Bet.

The Grand National is one of the highlights of the jumping calendar in horse racing and it has become tradition that people wager money on this one event each year, whether they gamble on a regular basis or not.

40 horses will battle it out over 30 fences at Aintree Racecourse on Saturday afternoon (16:15) in the hope that they will be the one lifting prestigious trophy come the end of the race.

Last year’s winner was the 66/1 outsider Auroras Encore who won the race by nine lengths while the 2012 winner was Neptune Collonges (33/1) beat Sunnyhillboy by a nose.

This year a top field of 40 horses will be battling it out to win the race – and the winner could be anyone’s guess.

A clear favourite has not won the Grand National for nine years since Hedgehunter, under the reins of Ruby Walsh won the race.

There have been two joint winners of the Grand National in recent years.

Comply or Die (7/1JF) won the race in 2008 before Don’t Push It (10/1JF) won the race in 2010 – in the middle of those two victories Mon Mome took the crown at the highest price ever recorded for a National winner at 100/1.

This year the race which Red Rum, who won the Grand National in 1973, 1974 and 1977, made his own sees some of the best horses do battle.

The early priced favourite Teaforthree (8/1) takes on Long Run (14/1), Balthazar King (16/1), Colbert Station (33/1) and Shakalakaboomboom (33/1) plus many more this weekend.

Sky Bet are paying five places on each way bets for this weekend’s Grand National while many other leading bookmakers will only be paying the standard four places.

By betting on this race, or any other from the festival, through Sky Bet you are enhancing your own chances of winning.
