The Iron’s Under-18s team were beaten 3-1 by their Bury counterparts at Brumby Hall on Thursday afternoon.
It was an even opening period, and United went a goal up when Harvey Ablett latched onto a throughball and finished really well.
Scunthorpe looked comfortable at that point and the away team didn’t have too many opportunities, but the hosts didn’t put the game to bed.
United didn’t start the second-half well, with the visitors putting the Iron under pressure and they levelled. Once that went in, the Shakers were encouraged and scored two more late goals.
On reflection, the result was fair, and the Iron return to action on Saturday when they visit York City (11am kick-off).
