Scunthorpe United is delighted to confirm that stalwart central defender Will Evans has signed a new one-year contract extension with the club.

After originally joining the club three years ago, off the back of a National League play-off campaign with Boreham Wood, the 34-year-old has been a key figure for United in recent years and, after a consistent first season with the Iron, earned himself a well-deserved first contract extension that saw him extend his stay at the Attis Arena.

During the first year of his new deal, Evans would play a crucial part in Scunthorpe's promotion to the National League via the National League North play-offs, making 42 appearances in a United defensive unit that smashed both the club and divisional clean sheet records.

An experienced figure in the fifth tier with nearly 500 appearances under his belt at the level, Evans made yet another strong start to the season in the 2025-26 campaign, striking up a powerful partnership with fellow veteran defender Andrew Boyce that lasted until he picked up an injury in late October.

After a frustrating series of injuries that kept the towering defender sidelined for a number of months, Evans would return to aid the Iron's play-off hopes at the end of the campaign, making a combined total of 33 appearances across all competitions, a number he will be looking to surpass during the upcoming season.
